CESI is proud of our mission to be a non-profit service provider of comprehensive personal financial education and solutions for all life stages and for all of life’s milestones. Our goal is enhanced economic security for everyone we serve.

As part of our mission to offer financial education, we have a robust Community Outreach Program that offers financial literacy workshops and classes in our local community throughout the Triangle region of North Carolina.

In 2017, we offered 197 in-person outreach sessions to more than 4,400 individuals and families covering a variety of topics related to financial literacy including:

  • Budgeting Basics
  • Understanding Credit and Debt
  • Reading and Understanding Your Credit Score
  • Banking and Savings
  • Financial Goal Setting
  • Student Loans
  • Maximizing Money for your budget
  • Identity Theft
  • Personal Finance Series for Refugees and Immigrants

We served a wide variety of clients in 2017 through partnerships with more than 20 community agencies, schools, libraries and churches. The majority of those attending fell into the Low to Moderate Income (LMI) catagory, with a reported household income of $30,000 or less. 20% of attendees reported that they did not finish high school, and 42% had a high school diploma or GED. 11% reported a college degree or beyond.

  1. Gaynor Songer says:

Thank you for reaching out. I need specific advice on (1) bad tax fallout resulting from a 2015 divorce, (2) how to get more cash to live. I am 72 years old.

    • Tracy East says:

Hi Gaynor – We are happy to provide advice within the scope of our services. We are able to provide credit counseling and assessment surrounding unsecured debt. We cannot provide tax advice, I would suggest speaking to an attorney or tax professional regarding tax advice. Regarding your financial situation, if eliminating unsecured debt is the answer you need to provide more cash flow, we can certainly provide you with consultation with one of our counselors and would be happy to discuss your financial situation with you in greater detail!
